I'm a millennial from North Carolina, mom to two dogs and a cat, and a lifelong fantasy lover who somehow didn't get into romance as a genre until 2025. Like a lot of us, I loved reading as a kid, got completely burned out in college, and spent years barely reading at all — until BookTok pulled me back in.

Once I found romantasy, I was hooked. But I kept running into the same problem: spice ratings that meant nothing. One person's “spicy” is another person's closed door. I was told ACOTAR was “faerie smut.” I went into Book 1 expecting something in the neighborhood of Fourth Wing and came out the other side having experienced exactly one barely-a-page scene.

Anyone who's read actual smut knows ACOTAR is nowhere near it.

So I built this. Because romance readers deserve to know what they're getting before they're already in chapter five — whether that's more spice than expected or less. No surprises. No vague labels. Just honest, calibrated ratings with real definitions behind them.

I built this entire site without writing a single line of code myself — just product decisions, AI tools, and a lot of late nights.
